WGGBA Team Dennis Captures National AAU Title

Columbus, Ohio—July 4, 2013 – Local AAU Basketball team takes the Division III first place title in the AAU National Tournament this week.

Coach David Dennis of Canal Winchester took his 10th grade AAU basketball team to the East Coast Division III AAU National Tournament this week in Hampton, VA, and captured their first National title.  All of his players are from the greater Columbus area and have played for Dennis’s organization “Who Got Game Basketball Academy” for several years.

The team has won several state titles, including the AAU State Tournament this past month in Columbus.  They also brought home first-place titles from the Pittsburgh Hoop Fest in Pittsburgh, PA & the King James Tournament in Akron, OH but this is the first National title they have come away with.  Dennis started the “Who Got Game Basketball Academy” in 2008 as a way to give back to the community and to provide young athletes with a cost-effective solid program designed to teach more than just basketball. He is dedicated to motivating students to achieve goals, developing values-based athletes, and building winning programs.  "My goal is to not only teach basketball, but also the attributes that will make our athletes better teammates, better citizens in their communities, better students, and better sons and daughters." 

Team members included: Malik Bocook and Ramon Wilson both of Zanesville,  Dana Coffman of Reynoldsburg,  Rael Windley of Pickerington, David Dennis Jr. of Hilliard, Case Chamblin, and Drew Mellen both of Marysville as well as Jack Cook and Jacob Wiseman of Powell.  On their trek to the championship “Who Got Game” finished an impressive 7-0 and is yet another example of just how good Ohio basketball really is. The team is on its way to Wisconsin on July 17th to participate in the AAU Under Armour Championship Series.
